Riot plays the sounds that built early-90s rave, hardcore and techno: hoovers that glide and growl, minor stabs fired from one key, the bright rave piano, organ stabs, Detroit and Chicago chords, deep basses, leads, kicks and effects. Every sound is synthesized, not sampled: up to four layers per preset, each with its own source, its own chord in memory, filter, envelopes and pitch dive.
Then comes the grit. Each layer goes through a LO-FI stage that does what the old samplers did: 16, 12, 10, 8 or 6 bits, and sample rates from 44.1 kHz down to 8 kHz with real aliasing, no polite reconstruction filter. One LO-FI knob crunches the whole preset at once, a global filter, drive, phaser, delay locked to your tempo and reverb finish the sound, and RANDOMIZE builds a new patch in the family of your choice. 140 presets in ten families, from Hoovers to FX.

How does Riot work exactly?
Every control, then the three steps.
- LAYERS – Up to four per preset, each switched on and off without a click, each with its own level, pan, tuning and filter.
- SOURCE – Saw, square, PWM pulse, hoover, supersaw, drawbar organ, piano, sine, kick or noise, all synthesized.
- CHORD – A chord in memory, up to five notes, played from one key: minor, minor 7, fourths, house sixths, spread voicings and more.
- LO-FI – Bit depth and sample rate per layer with real aliasing, plus one knob that crunches the whole preset.
- FILTER – Low-pass 12 or 24 dB, high-pass, band-pass and notch on every layer, with its own envelope, and a global filter on the output.
- FX – Phaser, a delay locked to your song tempo, reverb, width and drive.
- RANDOMIZE – A new patch in the family you choose: hoovers, stabs, pianos, organs, chords, basses, leads, kicks or FX.
- Load Riot on an instrument track and pick a family on the left: Hoovers, Stabs 91, Rave Pianos and more.
- Play one key: the whole chord comes out, already crunched like a 12-bit sampler.
- Turn LO-FI and FILTER, or press RANDOMIZE for a new patch in the same family.

Is it a sample library?
No. Riot contains no recordings: every stab, hoover and piano is synthesized and then degraded the way the old samplers did it, so it is light, instant to load and every part of the sound can be changed.
Can I play chords on it or only one key?
Both. Each preset already holds its chord, so one key plays the whole stab like the records did, and you can still play several keys: it has 16 voices. Set a layer's chord to Single to play your own chords.
Does the delay follow my song?
Yes. The delay time is set in note values and follows your DAW tempo.
Which formats and systems?
Mac: VST3 and AU on macOS 12 or later (Apple Silicon and Intel). Windows: VST3 on Windows 10/11 (64-bit). AAX for Pro Tools is not available yet.
How does the licence work?
A licence key is emailed right after purchase. Paste it in the plugin (or in the free TuneDrip Hub for macOS and Windows, which on Windows also installs the plugin) and click Activate: one internet connection, then the plugin works offline. Each key activates up to 3 computers; write to info@tunedrip.com to reset them.
