The Fred Again Essentials Vol. 1 started as one of those packs we built because we wanted it ourselves. There wasn't anything out there that actually captured what makes his productions feel the way they do — that tension between intimacy and club energy, between a voice memo recorded on a phone and a 140 BPM kick that could rattle a warehouse.
So we built it. Here's what's inside.
The Drum Kit
Fred Again's drums are the most recognizable part of his sound. Processed, textured, human-feeling even when they're clearly electronic. The drum kit section of this pack includes:
- Kick drums — sub-forward, slightly distorted, tuned to cut through dense mid-range. Built for 4-on-the-floor house and UK garage arrangements.
- Claps & snares — layered with room tone and subtle saturation. Not clinical. They breathe.
- Hi-hats & percussion — glitchy, stuttered patterns. The kind that sound like they were performed live then chopped up afterward, which is basically what Fred does.
- One-shots — individual drum hits tuned for pitch matching. Drop them into Simpler, Battery, or FL's Mixer and build custom patterns from scratch.
Every element in the drum kit is tuned and labeled by key and BPM where relevant. No sorting required.
Melodic Loops & Samples
The melodic content follows the same emotional logic as the drums. These aren't generic chord stacks — they're textured, imperfect loops built to feel like a fragment of something bigger:
- Piano & keys loops — delayed, slightly detuned. The kind of loop that makes you stop and stare at the ceiling for a second.
- Atmospheric pads — long, evolving, somewhere between ambient and club.
- Vocal chops & textures — processed voice elements, pitched up or down, blurred at the edges. His signature.
- Bass lines — rolling, functional, designed to sit under 128 BPM+ arrangements without fighting the kick.
MIDI Patterns
Every melodic element includes a MIDI version. If you want to swap the sounds, transpose the progression, or just learn how the patterns are structured — you can. The MIDI works in FL Studio, Ableton, Logic, and anything else that reads standard MIDI files.
Serum Presets
We built custom Serum presets that recreate the specific synth textures in his productions. Layered wavetable pads, glitchy arp sequences, the slightly detuned sub bass. Each preset has macro controls mapped for cutoff, texture depth, and reverb send — so you can adjust the character without rebuilding the patch from scratch.
DAW Compatibility
WAV samples work in everything. Serum presets require Xfer Serum (VST/AU). MIDI imports into any modern DAW. FL Studio users also get the bonus project files — five complete session templates that show how these elements get assembled into full arrangements.
- FL Studio (full project files + all samples)
- Ableton Live (WAV + MIDI)
- Logic Pro X (WAV + MIDI)
- Pro Tools, Cubase, Reaper (WAV + MIDI)
- GarageBand (WAV)
Why This Pack Works
Most producers who want to sound like Fred Again make the mistake of focusing on his effects chains. The reverb, the delay, the vocal processing. But the real foundation is the drum kit and the melodic loop selection — the emotional logic of how sounds are layered before any processing is applied.
That's what this pack is built around. Once you have the right raw material, the rest is just mixing.
If you produce house, UK garage, electronic pop, or any kind of emotional club music, this pack will find a place in your sessions immediately.
